Hey all!
Since I haven't been using my blog for anything, I've decided I shall record my Nuzlocke adventures on it. :P For those of you who don't know, the Nuzlocke Challenge (inspired by the comics of Nuzlocke originally posted on /v/ in 4chan) is a set of self-imposed rules to make Pokémon games that bit more challenging for the player. The original rules are:
> You may only catch the first pokémon you encounter in each area. If you kill it/make it faint/it runs away then that's too bad for you. No pokémon for that area.
> Once a pokémon faints, it is considered dead and must be released to the wild/put in a "graveyard" box in the pc (never to be used again). As soon as you have no pokémon left, or none that can learn the moves you need to advance in the game it's GAME OVER.
Some people put extra limitations on themselves, such as the exclusion of items inside/outside of battle, only allowing the purchase of 1 pokéball per mart, restricting use of the pokémon centre to a certain amaount per town etc etc, but I won't be using any of those extra rules myself (at least not for my first Nuzlocke game). Also, the first encounter rule I will only impose once I can purchase pokéballs (all that running back and forth at the start of the game won't count in other words). After that it is in place for the duration of the game.
I have found a free online version of Pokémon Yellow at Playr which I will be using for the challenge, as I don't have access to a DS at the moment and Lauren has borrowed my copy of Pokémon Red. I've never actually played Yellow so hopefully this will be good fun. :P
Until next time!
